All rugs, whether they are really expensive or cheap colorful rugs, should be cleaned properly. This is the only way that any customer will get the best out of a rug. It is also the only way that a customer will be able to keep a rug in the best condition for as long as possible.
Of course, everybody knows that the best way to keep a rug clean is to make sure that it doesn’t gather dirt. There are ways to do this such as not stepping on it with shoes and making sure that nobody eats or drinks while on top of a rug. But in any case, a rug still needs to be cleaned because eventually dust and dirt will get into the threads. The best way clean the rugs is by doing the following:
- Rugs should be vacuumed well. Generally, people will just run their vacuum machines over the top of a rug. Sometimes, this will help push dirt down to the bottom of the rug. So the best way to vacuum cheap colorful rugs is to make sure to vacuum both the top and the underside. This is a sure-fire way to collect as much dust as possible in a single vacuum session.
- For rugs that need to be washed, one only needs water and a mild soap or shampoo. Before actually applying the shampoo, it is best to test it on a small portion of the carpet first. This is to test if the chemicals in the soap or shampoo can cause damage to the colors of the carpet. Cheap carpets might have cheap dyes in them as well and adding shampoo and water might cause the colors to bleed right off them. When that happens, a customer will end up with a faded carpet after the first wash.
- Washing means getting into every inch of the cheap colorful rugs with water and shampoo. This means washing all the edges of the carpet and everything in between. One can also wash the underside of a carpet but it is really not necessary unless a stain or spill has gone right through the material.
- A good rinsing is needed so that there is no residue left from the soap or shampoo used on the carpet. Running water is best and all suds should be washed off before leaving a carpet out to dry. It is also possible to use a cloth and dab it into a wet carpet to get rid of all the excess water.
After vacuuming and washing a carpet, it needs to be bone dry before being placed back in a room or into storage. This is so that no molds will form and so no pests will be attracted to live in between the stitches of the rugs. This is most important when it comes to cheap colorful rugs that can be damaged easily. Make sure that the carpet is also dusted a little right after it is dried.
